Joining a Trading Tournament Late: How It Works
Entry stays open while a PnL World tournament runs. How late entry works, how your result is measured and when joining a long championship late makes sense.
On PnL World, entry stays open for the whole time a tournament is running, in every format. You can join a Weekly on day five, a PnL Monthly in its last week or the PnL World Championship in October.
How a late entry works
- Full bankroll. You start with the same virtual bankroll as everyone else at the table.
- The remaining time. You trade from the moment you join until the bell.
- The same result. Your place is decided by your final tournament result — the return on your starting bankroll after fees and funding — exactly like every other trader's.
- The same points. A late entry earns rating points for its final place like any other entry.
What changes when you join late
Less time to build a result. Traders who started on day one have had more time to grow — or to lose. A late entry is a shorter race against results already on the board.
Less time to fall behind. A shorter window also means less exposure. Some traders join long events once they have a clear view of the market.
You can see the standings. Places and results are public throughout, so you know what result you would need. Other traders' open positions stay hidden.
When joining late makes sense
- You found the tournament late. Better a shorter run in a strong field than no result at all.
- The field is deep. Field strength is highest in the long flagships, so even a mid-table finish there can be worth more than a win in a small Hourly.
- You trade a longer horizon anyway. Joining a PnL Monthly or PnL Quarterly mid-way can still fit a swing approach.
When to be careful
- Chasing the leader with leverage. Trying to catch a big result in a few days invites liquidation — and a liquidated account ranks last.
- Very short remaining time. Fees and spread matter more when there is little time to recover them.

Does a late entry get fewer points for the same place? No. Points depend on the place, the format and the field strength — not on when you joined.
Can I join the World Championship mid-year? Yes. Registration for 2027 is already open, and entry stays open throughout the year.
